<< Carthage

Carthage is the capital of the ancient Carthaginian civilization, a city-museum located on the territory of the modern Tunisia.
Throughout its history, Carthage was the capital of the state founded by the Phoenicians, one of the largest powers of the Mediterranean. After the Punic Wars, Carthage was taken and destroyed by the Romans, but then rebuilt and was the most important city of the Roman Empire in the province of Africa, a major cultural and then an early Christian church center.
The stone ruins of the ruined city today have become the center of historical and cultural studies. The legacy of the great city and after a series of centuries looks impressive and monumental.
